In early December, Pantone announced that Peach Fuzz was chosen as the color of the year 2024. Will it be a major inspiration for fashion designers, interior designers or makeup artists? What exactly does this shade look like, and why was this particular hue chosen out of a huge number of others?

Pantone is the company that developed a numerical system to determine colors in the 1960s. Since 1999, the Pantone Color Institute, which it runs, has also announced the color of the year. It often inspires fashion, interior and makeup designers. Scientists, including those involved in color psychology, try to predict what moods will prevail and what color will suit us best. Last year, the color chosen was the energetic Viva Magenta. This year it is a delicate and elegant shade called Peach Fuzz, numbered 13-1023.

The name Peach Fuzz freely translated means "peach fluff." The shade is delicate, balancing between orange and pink, and actually resembles the hue of tiny hairs on the surface of a peach peel. Pantone describes it as "subtly sensual" and "a heartfelt peach shade that brings feelings of kindness and tenderness, conveying a message of caring, sharing, togetherness and cooperation." Actually this shade has a lot of warmth and softness in it. There is something enveloping and soothing about it.
