Choosing the right size fora dress, jacket, suit or pants is quite a challenge when buying clothes online. Here there is no possibility of either buying "by eye" or fitting before making a choice. The process of returning a purchased item, although easy, always involves some inconvenience, and everyone would prefer to avoid having to do so because of an ill-fitting size. It is much more fun to make a purchase that immediately fits like a glove and can be enjoyed from the first day after delivery.
Nowadays, different brands use different sizes, which adds to the confusion. The most effective way to choose the right size for you is to measure yourself with a tailor's meter in the appropriate circumferences and lengths, and write down these measurements before making a purchase online.
In the store poza.pl you can find a table (link) with the dimensions of the women's clothingwe produce . You can easily read from it what size will be appropriate.
In Poland, the sizes of women's clothing are marked with European symbols, i.e. numbers from 32 by two upwards.
You can also meet in stores with British sizing, which, according to our sizes, looks as follows:
UK | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 | 16 | 18 | 20 | 22 | 24 |
EU | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 | 48 | 50 | 52 |
French and Italian sizing use the same markings as European sizing, used in Poland, among other countries, but refer them to different sizes. Clothes from these countries may appear smaller, as French sizing is shifted one size down and Italian sizing is shifted two.
I | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 | 48 | 50 | 52 | 54 | 56 |
F | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 | 48 | 50 | 52 | 54 |
EU | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 | 48 | 50 | 52 |
The case is different with German sizing. There, the sizes may seem to us inflated compared to those in Poland:
D | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 | 48 | 50 |
EU | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 | 46 | 48 | 50 | 52 |
Below we will explain how to choose a size using the sizing chart.
The measurements you will need to determine the right size are: bust circumference, waist circumference and hip circumference.
When taking off the measurements, make sure that the tailor's meter is placed horizontally, not floating on either side. Do not squeeze with the tape measure or leave a lot of slack. If you use modeling underwear, you can take off your measurements in that underwear. However, you should not measure yourself with your clothes on, even the most tight-fitting ones. It is necessary to stand freely, not to pull in the abdomen, not to tighten the muscles. An important issue is where we measure these girths.
How to choose the size in the bust?
Bust should be measured at the widest point of its circumference having on a bra of the type you would wear under the chosen garment. Different bras structure the breasts differently, some add volume, others are constructed to make the breasts appear smaller. Some lift the breasts high, others keep them in their natural position. All of this can have some effect on the final girth measurement. The dimension of the chest circumference can be found in the top row of the size chart.
How to choose the waist size?
The waist should be measured at the level of the navel. This is the middle row of the size chart.
How to size in the hips?
Hips are measured at the widest point, most often this will be the place where the buttock muscles are most pronounced.
How to choose a size - length also matters
If we are interested in whether the length of a dress or jacketwill suit us , we measure from the shoulder just at the neck to the bottom. The length of pants, on the other hand, is checked from the waist across the hip to the bottom.
In each of the circumferences of the finished garment is taken into account a slight slack, so that the garment is not too tight, nevertheless the difference between the sizes is 4 cm in circumference in sizes up to 44, then 6 cm in circumference. If the dimension falls between two size numbers, choose the smaller one.
In the event that any of your measurements corresponds to a larger size than the others, in order to look good in the clothes you buy and feel comfortable in them, it is also worth paying attention to thetype of material from which the selected garment is sewn, especially whether the fabric is elastic, and its cut. In the case of elastic fabric, slight deviations of your measurement from the size on the chart will not make much difference. On the other hand, if the fabric does not have this feature, it will be too tight, uncomfortable and there may be damage to the garment during use.
If you have abust size larger than the other circumferences, you may want to pay attention to dresses with an envelope neckline, which will better cope with such a difference and at the same time emphasize the assets of the figure. In the case where it is the hips that are in a larger size, it is worth considering flareddresses and skirts that will fit to emphasize the waist, rather than sagging on the hips.
Otherwise, it's a good idea to choose a size that corresponds to the largest of your measurements.
If you're wondering what to do if your hips and bust match your larger size, and you'd like to emphasize a slim waist - choose a size that matches your bust and hips, and choose a garment that has a visible fitted waist or will look good with a belt. Of course, you can also choose a flared dress with an envelope neckline
It is important not to forcefully choose a smaller size, because it will emphasize the imperfections of the figure instead of exposing its assets, as well as being uncomfortable to wear.
When choosing a dress for a wedding, forexample , we must take into account the fact that we will be dancing in it, and in addition to being beautiful, it is best that it is also comfortable and we can feel at ease in it. A dress for the office, in which we spend most of the day, should also not restrict our freedom of movement, since we spend most of the day in it and it would be a torment. Proper sizing is of paramount importance. Choosing the right size is crucial. If you have any questions about choosing the right size dress from our range, please call us
